I love listening to podcasts, especially when I’m sitting in the car on the way home and traffic is hell. It helps keep me calm and it gives me something to focus on when I’d otherwise be miserable. Since I also work from home, I like to turn on more inspirational-ish podcasts when I’m doing work like editing photos which can take me hours and let’s be honest, I need all the help I can get to keep me motivated.
I’m pretty sure that the first podcast that I listened to and the one that hooked me in on the concept was Serial. If you haven’t listened to the first season yet, you have to go listen to it. Like right now. ASAP! Since then, I’ve stared listening to quite a few other podcasts and I thought today we’d talk a little bit about the podcasts that I’m loving! There are thousands of podcasts out there (including mine which will be coming back, very soon!)
Podcasts That I’m Loving
This podcast is based on the New York Times Column and features celebrities/impressive people reading the essays that people have written for the column. At the end of the reading, they have the person back on to talk about why they wrote the essay and to discuss any updates. It’s so good and several episodes have left me in tears!
This episode had me in serious tears!!!!
This is a podcast that makes you feel like you’re having a friendly conversation with one of your friends. It’s three best-friends chatting about everything and one of my favorite episodes to date was a review on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Quite possibly one of my favorite podcasts ever! Jess just seriously speaks to my heart and I feel like her topics are what my soul is craving to hear. Her philosophy is about living your life with value based intentions and she has helped me find so much peace and happiness within myself since listening to her show. She has amazing guests on her podcast and explores a variety of topics. It’s excellent!
James Hubberd and Darren French explore each episode of Game of Thrones on this Podcast and also offer some behind the scenes info. Their knowledge on the show is fascinating to me and I LOVE hearing their thoughts on the latest episodes when GOT is on! It’s a must-listen for any fan of GOT!
Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
I am a serious fangirl of Elizabeth Gilbert and when I found out that she had a podcast that went along with her book, Big Magic, well I was thrilled! This podcast just makes me think a little bit harder and if you love anything creative, you will adore this podcast for sure! Elizabeth Gilbert makes me feel like I can conquer the world!
If you’re new to this blog, then I’ll forgive you, but if you’re a long time reader then you know of my love for all things Harry Potter. When I saw that this podcast was released, I jumped on immediately and gave it a listen. It’s going through each Harry Potter book and just discussing characters and story lines and also sharing a little bit of information that we might not know. Each week there is a guest and so far they have been incredible! Yes, the creators of the podcast consider themselves Slytherins…..BOO!!!!! HA!
Each podcast is different and I kinda love that. It feels like a mixture of watching a tv show and also reading a book. The difference is, I can take podcasts with me wherever I go and they allow me the freedom to entertain myself while doing not-so-fun things like driving in traffic, etc. There are tons of ways to subscribe to podcasts, I normally use iTunes, but feel free to use whatever is easiest for you!
I’m curious though, what are some of the podcasts that you love and that I need to know about? Please comment below! I know that there must be a ton that I’m missing out on and I’d love to hear about some that I need to add to my list!

I haven’t listened to a podcast in years, and quite honestly forgot they even existed. Shame on me, I know. Lol. A few these sound really great and I will be checking them out. =)
