Today we’re talking about unsexy products that get the job done. I saw this trend going viral on Tik-Tok and I’m obsessed with watching what products (and things) people share. What do I consider unsexy? Probably a lot of what I use nowadays. Random things that you consider a must-have. They don’t have to cost a fortune. They might not have fancy packaging and aren’t sold at a high-end department store. Maybe it’s what you use for tummy issues. The bottom line? They get the job done.
Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer
I have used this for quite some time now and I still consider it a go-to facial moisturizer. It’s lightweight, but it still really hydrates my skin. I think this is a great choice for any skin type, but especially those with sensitive skin. *With warmer temperatures approaching, this is a great lightweight moisturizer to consider.
CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Facewash
The Cera Ve Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser is so, so good. It doesn’t cost a fortune. It’s easy to purchase. It doesn’t have fancy packaging, but it works. I have used very expensive facial cleansers and this one is still one that I continually repurchase. I love that this leaves my skin feeling clean, but not too dry.
I find this to be the perfect second cleanser for me. I typically use an oil-based cleanser or cleansing balm as my first cleanser to remove stubborn makeup. My husband does use this as his regular facial cleanser.
Dove Beauty Sensitive Skin Body Wash
You will always find this body wash in my shower. I use it. My husband uses it. I love it. I even take it with me every time I travel. It’s affordable and again, very easy to find. I have extremely sensitive skin and this body wash doesn’t make my skin freak out like so many others have. It’s basic, but in the best way possible.
Flonase
I NEVER had sinus issues like I do now, until I moved to Georgia. This pollen is intense! I have even had to go to an allergist to figure out what I can do to get this under control. So I use Flonase. It’s for sure not a sexy product, but this (combined with another prescription nasal spray) gets the job done.
Simply Saline Nasal Rinse
Oh heck yes this is on my list. If you have sinus issues, you know. I think this is a safer solution (per my dr) to make sure that my nasal cavity is being cleansed.
Powder Puff Soft Triangle Makeup Puff
I used to pay quite a lot for makeup puffs, but then I switched to these and I’ve never gone back. They’re in a 6 pack (I think) and they’re so good. Save your money and give these a try. It’s sexy to save money.
Makeup Sponges
Again, I used to spend so much money on buying Beauty Blenders. They work great, however, they cost a fortune when you’re replacing them monthly. My solution to spending less, but still getting a great quality makeup sponge came once again, thanks to Amazon. You can’t go wrong with these sponges as they’re basically the exact same product as a beauty blender. A 6 pack for under$10.00.
Medicine Organizer
A medicine organizer is obviously so very unsexy, but it’s needed with my prescriptions and supplements that I take daily. We ordered this for my FIL and I loved it so much that I got one for myself. Welcome to your 40’s.
Sock Holders
This is a product my husband influenced me to start using. I was sick and tired of losing socks. HOW DO THEY DISAPPEAR once you start doing laundry? These are inexpensive and a damn good invention. I use them. My husband uses them. I’m a believer.
Gloves In A Bottle Hand Lotion
This is one of those products that I tell people about all of the time. I order it on Amazon now, but I used to have to ask my pharmacist for it. It is so good for dry hands. I always have a bottle of this by my nightstand. I swear by it! (I believe this was marketed for diabetics!) It doesn’t have a fun scent. It doesn’t make my skin glow. It doesn’t come in cute packaging. However, it does make my hands feel super soft.
AmLactin Foot Repair
I’m not sure who I found this product suggestion from, but I want to say possibly Grace Atwood?!? Anyways, it’s so good for helping with dry feet. You know when you’ve reached that point where you have the driest heels ever? This is what you need. I love this foot lotion because it has an exfoliant which helps to exfoliate dead skin, but it is also very hydrating. I use the foot lotion with these clever foot socks (without toes) and apply right before I’m going to bed. After a couple of nights, my feet are so much better.
Unsexy Products I Also Consider a Must-Have
- Gas-X and other products like this. If you’re also a fellow gal who has issues with her tummy, then you know! I also have to throw Lactaid on this list because I love cheese but it sure doesn’t love me.
- Alcohol Wipes for when I get super nauseous (It works. Trust me) A quick sniff and I feel much better.
- My Shark Handheld Cordless Vacuum I use this daily and swear by it. It’s a prized possession.
- True Lime Packets (Which might be considered a tad trendy at the moment? I love it in a diet coke)
- Trader Joes Hand Sanitizer (A total must-have)
- Ranch Dressing. I swear by Hidden Valley unless I’m making homemade. (I’m from Ohio. We put Ranch on everything)
- Wet Wipes for the car. I have children in my car. Enough said.
- Clorox wipes (I have them in the car. I have them on all levels of my house)
I have to know what are some of the unsexy products that you swear by?
