Today I’m sharing what books I read in April and what books I have on my to-read list for May! I actually got quite a bit of reading done so I’m happy about that. I am still working on finishing several audio books that I’ve been struggling to finish. If I struggle with an audiobook, I have to to just stop it and give it a break and pick it up later on. Same goes with books!
If you’re new around here, I share my reading list every month. It’s a wrap-up of all of the books that I read (and listened to) the previous month. Here’s my April 2022 Reading List:
April 2022 Reading List
My Review:
Based solely on the cover of this book, we can see what it’s about. A hot guy, who turns out to be her boss, who she shags non-stop and obviously falls in love with. There’s some reason that one of them gets cold feet to be in a committed relationship, BUT a miracle happens and they realize they’re completely in love.
I didn’t go into this with high expectations. A good Kindle read for under $5.00 to pass the time. Both main characters annoyed me at one point or another, but overall, it was ok. I don’t think this was my favorite read from this author, but it’s very popular with her fans.
Trigger Warnings: Death of loved one
Synopsis
The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
Then again…
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?
My Review:
I read this based off of a review from a bookstagrammer. I went into it pretty much not knowing anything about the storyline. This is a YA/Dystopian series that was released in 2011. It’s gives me Hunger Games, Divergent vibes. Sort of.
Being that this is YA, don’t let that stop you from reading this series. I was blown away by one character in particular and my entire thoughts on several characters change as the storyline continues in the remaining books in the series.
I had someone message me when I shared that I was starting this series, that even if I struggled with the first book and how it was written to continue the series. She said she loved it, but a lot of people didn’t enjoy how it was written. You have to have an understanding of why the writer chose to write the book this way. I honestly didn’t mind it and if I can read several Sally Rooney novels with no quotations, I can easily read a book with thoughts crossed off.
Synopsis:
One touch is all it takes. One touch, and Juliette Ferrars can leave a fully grown man gasping for air. One touch, and she can kill.
No one knows why Juliette has such incredible power. It feels like a curse, a burden that one person alone could never bear. But The Reestablishment sees it as a gift, sees her as an opportunity. An opportunity for a deadly weapon.
Juliette has never fought for herself before. But when she’s reunited with the one person who ever cared about her, she finds a strength she never knew she had.
My Review:
First of all, I’d highly recommend reading the Novella, Fracture Me, before reading this one. It’s told from Adam’s point of view and I think it’s very insightful.
This series is a dystopian series, BUT, it’s feeling a bit more like avengers, x-men or something at this point. You’ll understand what I mean if you read this book.
Juliette is really starting to become her own in this story. She’s still delicate and fragile and her story DID annoy me a bit (she just moped around) but she’s progressing. She goes through a lot in this book. So be patient with her, ha.
Warner. OMG. Pure sexual tension. He’s emotional. He’s complicated. We’re also learning a lot more about him in this book. Is he a villian?
ADAM. Things are changing……
Synopsis:
It should have taken Juliette a single touch to kill Warner. But his mysterious immunity to her deadly power has left her shaken, wondering why her ultimate defense mechanism failed against the person she most needs protection from.
She and Adam were able to escape Warner’s clutches and join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. And perhaps these new allies can help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s—and Warner’s—immunity to her killer skin.

Juliette’s world is packed with high-stakes action and tantalizing romance, perfect for fans of the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard and the Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken.
My review:
There’s not a lot of plot with this book, yet I still give it four stars. I went back and forth with this rating as there were things I LOVED about this story, but also, things that I’m like WTH about.
I feel like the author went in writing this story with it being the end? Is it a great ending? No. Could it still close the story up nicely? Yeah, I suppose so.
Synopsis:
With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.
I also realized that somehow I forgot to publish my March 2022 Reading List. OOPS! So I’ll be publishing that as well. I read some amazing books in March and April, and so far, May is pretty amazing as well. There have been some amazing new book releases happening and well, my TBR pile is even bigger now! Have you read anything lately that has really impressed you? Let me know in the comments!
- Emily Henry Book Lovers was one of my most anticipated reads for May! So far, it’s not letting me down. A must-buy author for me.
- Jasmine Guillory By The Book was just released! This is from the Meant To Be series (so this is book 2) the first book was If The Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy.
- Mary Kay Andrews: The Homewrecker was released on May 3. I gifted this to my MIL for Mother’s Day!
- The Summer Place by Jennifer Weiner came out yesterday. I had an advanced copy of it and LOVED IT. I think this was one of her best books yet. This does deal with Covid, so just a heads up!
