As December rolls in, so does the perfect excuse to grab a warm (or cold) drink, cozy up by the fire, and indulge in some fantastic reads. This month, my reading list is full of romance, laughter, and holiday cheer—plus a little drama to keep things spicy. Let’s dive into the books that made my December 2024 reading list so good!

1. Between Friends & Lovers by Shirlene Obuobi
Genre: Contemporary Romance
What It’s About:
This heartfelt novel explores the complexities of love and friendship as two long-time friends face the blurred lines between their platonic bond and something much deeper. Set against a vibrant cityscape, it’s a beautifully written story full of raw emotion and relatable moments.
My Thoughts:
I absolutely adored how this book captures the “will they or won’t they” tension while tackling themes of vulnerability and self-discovery. Shirlene Obuobi’s writing has a way of pulling you right into the characters’ lives, making it impossible to put down.
2. Marry Ever After by Tessa Bailey
Genre: Holiday Romance
What It’s About:
Tessa Bailey does it again with this lighthearted holiday romance! Packed with humor, charm, and a healthy dose of festive cheer, this book follows two unlikely partners teaming up to fake an engagement—only to discover real feelings along the way.
My Thoughts:
This was a DNF for me. I just could not get past the cringe conversations between these characters.
3. Risk Worth Taking by Jessica Joyce
5
Genre: Romantic Novella
What It’s About:
A short and sweet love story that proves sometimes the biggest risks lead to the greatest rewards. AKA A one-night-stand turned snowed-in “fun.”
My Thoughts:
Jessica Joyce packed so much emotion into this novella. It’s tender, uplifting, and gave me all the warm, fuzzy feelings. Perfect for when you want a quick but satisfying love story. I did not want this book to end! Give me the full story! I think I felt every emotion reading this novella.
4. Cruel Winter With You by Ali Hazelwood
Genre: Romantic Suspense
What It’s About:
Cruel Winter With You is a gripping romantic suspense novel that had so much tension, passion, and emotional depth. This second-chance romance had me hooked from page one. It was so insanely good, I messaged my BFF (who also read it) and could not shut up about this book.
My Thoughts:
This book was included in the Amazon-Original holiday releases that came out right around the holidays. I LOVE Ali Hazelwood, so I was excited to read this one. Jamie and Marc have history. Marc is her best friends brother. They did not leave things on good terms the last time they saw each other. NOW they’re stuck inside during a major snowstorm so obviously we know how this goes. (I mean that in the best way possible)
4. Bonus Spotlight: Taylor Swift’s Influence
Okay, this isn’t a “book,” but Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour vibe is everywhere this season, and I couldn’t resist giving it a little shout-out. This book is gorgeous! Between her storytelling in music and her cultural impact, I’d argue she’s influencing so many—even in our reading picks. Don’t you agree?
This month, I wanted a mix of everything I love—heartwarming holiday cheer, swoon-worthy romance, and just a little bit of suspense to keep me on my toes. Each of these books brought something unique to the table. Whether it was the emotional depth in Between Friends & Lovers, or the edge-of-your-seat tension in Cruel Winter With You, plus, who doesn’t love reading about Taylor!?!? These stories made my December 2024 reading list a good one.
