Hey friends,
Another month down, and with it, some incredible reads! February was filled with high-stakes drama, intense competition, and an epic fantasy journey that completely took over the end of my February. I tackled a very hyped up BookTok favorite (The Favorites by Layne Fargo) and finally completed my Throne of Glass tandem read—a reading experience I’m still recovering from.
Let’s dive into my February reading wrap-up!

The Favorites by Layne Fargo
5
This book had everything—ice dancing (I had to look up what this really meant), cutthroat competition, family dysfunction, betrayals, and some serious tension. Fargo’s writing pulled me in immediately, and the messy, complex relationships kept me hooked until the final page. I’ve gifted this book to three people so far if that tells you anything! I went back and forth between the physical book and the audiobook. The narration was a full cast and it was excellent.
Who would love this book? Fans of Carrie Soto Is Back
Anyone who loves competitive sports settings
Readers who enjoy messy, and very complicated relationships
Throne of Glass Tandem Read
5 (ALL THE STARS)
I FINALLY finished my Throne of Glass tandem read, and WOW. There were epic battles, huge character arcs, and that ending left me dying to know what happens next! This series has been an emotional rollercoaster, and I’m both excited and terrified to see what happens in the final book, Kingdom of Ash.
Would I recommend the tandem read? Absolutely—but I want to do an entire post on it because it’s such an interesting reading experience. If you’re wondering what the tandem read even is, here’s the gist: Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn take place during the same timeline but follow different characters. Empire of Storms focuses on the majority of the characters and ends with a HUGE, shocking moment, while Tower of Dawn shifts to one main character’s journey. Instead of reading them separately, readers came up with a guide to read them together—chapter by chapter—to get the full experience. It was intense, but I’m so glad I did it!
Biggest takeaways:
-The fact that SJM began writing this story as a teenager continues to wow me
-The most shocking plot twists
-The emotional damage (because there was a lot)
- If you want to download the tandem read to your Kindle, here’s the link I used to download the files! Then you’ll want to go to this link to upload it to your Kindle!
- Here is a guide if you are reading the physical books!
Final Thoughts & What’s Next
February’s reading theme? Intense emotions and high-stakes storytelling. Both of these books delivered on that front, and I loved every second. Now, I’m looking ahead to March—what should I read next? I feel like I need a good rom-com to break up the intensity of TOG.
