June Julep Maven Box: Sail into Summer….

Out of all of the Julep boxes that I have gotten, this was the toughest for me to choose from.  Not because I liked all of the boxes so much, but more because I didn’t love any of them.  I’m pretty sure that has never happened before.  I chose the Modern Beauty Box which had a DD Creme, DD Concealer and I added on a Nail Polish. The theme for this month’s box was Sail into Summer and they even threw in some cute Salt Water Taffy. Yum!  I can’t say I loved this box, but I didn’t hate it either.  I chose this box because the other boxes with nail polish choices didn’t wow me.  This box is more makeup related this month.  Yes, Julep does sell makeup products.  Remember the last box I received?

I know some of you probably read “DD Creme/Concealer” and thought what the heck is that!?!? Yes, we are now going through the alphabet when it comes to  tinted moisturizer/skin correctors.  We’ve had BB Creams, CC Creams and now DD Creams.  I’m going to do a separate post to explain the differences between all of them, but for now, just know that a DD Creme is more of a “Dynamic Do-All product.”

I enjoyed using both of these products and I think that the DD Creme is an excellent product to use for the summertime.  It’s lightweight and offers good build-able coverage, it moisturizes, primes and protects the skin thanks to the addition of SPF 25. The DD Concealer is very pigmented and seems to cover nicely, however, when I got my tube out of the box, it was already basically empty.  I’m assuming it’s some sort of error and that is not the correct amount of product one would normally receive, but I’ve contacted Julep to see what they can do to help get me the correct product so I could actually test it out more.

As far as the color options for both of these, they do offer several to chose from, BUT the light for me was almost a little bit too dark.  I can get away with it now being that I’m in the sun more, but it’s still a little dark so keep that in mind if you are fair. I also want to point out that this is a very lightweight creme (Concealer is actually quite pigmented, so not talking about it at all) and you really need to build up the product to get any actual coverage if you are trying to hide any imperfections.  This wouldn’t be the product I’d grab, unless I did have the concealer, to hide any redness or anything else I was dealing with.

 I haven’t used these long enough to see the benefits of them, but the products worked great on my skin.  They seemed to last a decent amount during the day and I plan to keep using them to see, with continued use, if I see any discoloration or anything else seem to improve.  I’m sure we will be seeing more DD Creme products from other companies soon.

Oh and I almost forgot! Here is the Nail Polish that I picked up as an Add-On purchase.  I got this for maybe $4.99?!? It normally retails for $14.00, but if you are a Julep Maven you can pick it up for $11.20.  I like to do the add-on’s to get a product at a great price. I don’t normally wear green, but I loved this color!

This wasn’t my favorite box from Julep, but like I said before, it wasn’t horrible.  I knew that they were releasing this line of DD products and I wanted to try them out.  I hope that I get the issue resolved with my concealer because I’d like to be able to try it more.  I always look forward to my Julep boxes and you can too!  Sign up to become a Julep Maven Member today!
