It’s been a minute (or two) since I’ve posted any new content on Simply Stine, but I’m back. Let’s Catch up, shall we? We’ve had a pretty exciting and fun summer so far. We’ve had family in town several times, we’ve celebrated multiple birthdays, and we’re getting ready to leave for an actual vacation this coming weekend. Life is somewhat back to normal, almost.
Since I haven’t been posting as often on here (sorry, but it was needed) I’ve been enjoying lots of pool days, some reading time, playing our Nintendo Switch (yes, we’re still doing that) bbq’ing and playing with our new Blackstone (Affiliate link) we bought. We made pancakes, sausage, and hash browns on it yesterday. We love it!
We’ve also finished getting caught up on The Handmaid’s Tale (THAT ENDING) and we’re working on finishing For all Mankind as well. I’m going to start watching Shadow and Bone soon also. Maybe that will be my vacation show to watch.

June Reading List
If I’m being really honest with you, I didn’t get a lot of time to read in June. It pained me, honestly. Reading is my one of my favorite things to do and I hate it when I don’t have the extra time. I’m not even going to post my June 2021 Reading List because well, I didn’t finish any physical books. Some months are like that and it’s ok. I have to remind myself that it’s not a race.
Here are the books that I did read (and some I’ve now finished)
- Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
- Year Book by Seth Rogen
- Reel by Kennedy Ryan
My Plans For The Week Ahead
Is it just me or does anyone else have to seriously deep clean their house before they leave for vacation?!? I’ll be cleaning all week and getting ready for our beach trip. That means today I’m starting all the chores: making lists for what I need to pick up before we leave, cleaning everything, and starting to pack for both myself and my husband. I’ll also be tacking laundry and all of that fun stuff. One thing that has to be done? I insist on coming home to clean sheets before I leave for vacation, so all the linens have to be cleaned. #IAMWHOIAM
I also take forever to pack. This time I’m trying to not overpack and that includes all of my skincare and makeup as well. Half the time I pack so much, and I end up going makeup-free and letting my hair air dry. So I’m keeping that in mind. I’ll share what I end up packing soon!
I’m also planning what books I want to bring with me (there is nothing better than a good beach read) and I want to listen to at least one audiobook while we are away. I’m hoping to relax and be off of social media for a bit!
Not much is happening around here that is that interesting. Just a lot of errands and getting ready to finally enjoy a vacation. It’s been since 2019 and I’m fully looking forward to it. Now, let’s just pray that the tropical storm that is on the way towards Florida doesn’t mess up our plans. Fingers crossed.

I definitely cleaned as much as I could before we left for our beach trip and it was sooo nice to come home to a (mostly) clean house!!
