L’Oreal LA Palette Nude 1 and Nude 2 Palettes are a really great drugstore makeup option. We all know how popular the Urban Decay Naked Palettes have been, BUT not everyone is ready to dish out $50.00 for makeup and I totally get it. Once I tried the L’Oreal LA Palette Nude 1 and Nude 2 Palettes, I knew I had to share them on Simply Stine.
First up was Maybelline with their The Nudes Palette which retailed right at $9.99. It was a great palette in my opinion and quite comparable to some of the UD Naked colors. Now L’Oreal has introduced us to their LA Palettes. They have a Nude 1 version and also a Nude 2. Their are some differences between both of these palettes, so I thought I’d show you some up close pictures so you could see the differences for yourself.
L’Oreal LA Palettes Nude 1 and Nude 2
L’Oreal LA Palette Nude 1
The L’Oreal LA Palette ( Nude 1) is your light to medium tones that consist of Beige and Warm Browns. It’s gorgeous and probably the one I’d reach for the most since I’m obsessed with nude eyeshadows. This palette consists of 3 Matte colors and 7 Metallic/Shimmer colors. The colors that are Matte would make lovely transition colors for sure! The colors themselves are soft and buttery to touch and for the most part apply very nicely.
I love the colors that are included in this palette. They are fantastic for day to night looks and I’m really happy that there are at least 3 Matte colors included. I wish that the lightest color was a matte for the brow bone, but I can live with the color that is available because it’s a beautiful pearlized vanilla shade.
I compared this palette to the Naked 1, but the more I looked at the colors up close, I feel like the L’Oreal LA Palette (Nude 1) is more of a mix of all of the UD Naked Palettes. I feel like some of the metallic/shimmer shades are more closer to the Naked 2 and 3, but the matte colors are for sure very similar to the tones of the Naked 1. Overall, great color selection in this palette if you are a nude eyeshadow lover and let’s be honest, who really isn’t?!?
You’ll notice with these palettes that they are made in that black, plastic casing that shows every possible piece of dust, fingerprints and dirt possible. It’s not bad, but it’s not my favorite. This is a drugstore product and I try to remind myself that and take that into consideration. The plastic casing doesn’t feel too cheap, but I don’t know how durable this would be to travel with or carry with you daily. I did like that they included a really nice sized mirror in the palette. That’s fantastic for on-the-go makeup touch up’s and just in general is awesome to have. On the back of the palette you’ll notice that the included 4 tutorials on how to achieve the looks they feature. Bravo, L’Oreal! I love this for those who might need al little more guidance on how to achieve some fun looks. You an also explore more looks on their Makeup Genius App, which is a lot of fun to play with.
L’Oreal LA Palette Nude 2
The L’Oreal LA Palette (Nude 2) is your Medium to Deep tones that consist of Taupe, Mauve and Cool Plums. This palette is such a gorgeous blend of colors and I love the addition of the Mauve and Cool Plums, especially for Spring. I think they are great colors to play with to spice up your nude eye look a little bit.
Again, comparing this to the UD Naked Palettes, I feel like this is a mix of the Naked 2 and 3, but probably more of the Naked 2. I feel like the difference between the UD Naked Palettes and the L’Oreal LA Palettes are that they L’Oreal shades are just not as metallic or shimmery as the UD Naked colors, which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion. I can’t wait to create some gorgeous looks with this palette.
Both palettes contain a dual ended brush. It’s decent and again, remind yourself that this is a drugstore product. I wasn’t expecting much with this brush, but one side is the typical sponge tipped and the other is a small, but pretty densely packed possible crease brush. It’s not the best, but it could be a lot worse. I’d still stick with your own makeup brushes to get the best application. Again, this features a full sized mirror, which I love! The L’Oreal LA Palette (Nude 2) contains 6 Mattes (YES!!) and 4 Metallic/Shimmer shades. The Matte shades are a little bit on the powdery side and take a little bit to build up, but still quite impressive!
Again there are 4 looks and a tutorial on how to achieve the look. I love this and I can’t wait to give some of these a try soon. Especially with these plums and mauves-it’s a fun way to add a little bit of something different to your normal nude look.
PRO’S and CON’S
The L’Oreal LA Palettes are quite impressive in my opinion. Compared to the other drugstore products that are out there, I feel like these are actually quite a bit superior. The pigmentation on them is fantastic (for the most part) and I love the color selections for both palettes and I think they’d work for a variety of skin tones. I’m NOT a fan of the black, plastic case, BUT I realize this is drugstore products we are talking about here and in order to have a more luxurious package, that would be more dollars on our part. Overall, the package is very nice and sleek and I love the black and gold combination. I love the way the eyeshadows are full sized and line up the entire palette. I feel like it looks impressive on that end.
Since I wasn’t a fan of the brush that was included, I simply took that one out and inserted one of my own. Voila! Problem solved. I feel that to get the best out of these palettes, I’d suggest an eye primer for sure. I also think that if you apply some of the metallic/shimmer shades wet, it will give you a more intense look. I’d be careful getting these colors wet though, as I’m not sure how they would be after they got water in them.
I think the L’Oreal LA Palette Nude 1 and Nude 2 Palettes are fun and L’Oreal did a fantastic job on putting them together. I know UK had something similar (not the same) before they were released and overall, I’m very, very happy with the products they released here in the US. Price point on these range from $15.99 and up from what I’ve seen. YES, that is quite a lot from a drugstore palette, BUT you’re getting 10, full sized eyeshadows that are very nicely pigmented, plus a “brush.” That’s a nice price for a more affordable eyeshadow palette in my opinion. Compare that to something like the UD Naked Palettes, you are saving yourself a lot of money!
The L’Oreal LA Palette Nude 1 and Nude 2 Palettes have been spotted at random stores, but I only found mine at Target so far and they didn’t have many left. I feel like these are so popular that they will go pretty fast. So if you want one, check your stores online (if available) before you go! Good Luck and if you pick either of them up, I’d love to know your opinion! I’ll have some looks from both of the palettes up soon!

What a great review! These both look really nice but I think I like the look of #1 the best.

I really love both of them equally. The first palette is the one I’d use daily probably. I loved the colors that they included. Just really pretty combinations. I love that I can use both of these palettes together as well! $15.99 might seem high, but they are great quality!

This is a great review! I was at Walmart a couple weeks ago and saw these, but didn’t want to spend the money just yet. I’m definitely wanting the second one!
