One of my blogging groups that I’m a member of thought it would be fun to do the I Love Drugstore Makeup Tag and I’ve got to admit. This post took me a while to put together because I have quite a few drugstore makeup products that I really, really enjoy using! A lot of people refuse to buy drugstore makeup and it amazes me! These companies have really come a long way and some of their products are amazing! So here’s a list of the questions that I had to answer! I’ve put together some of my favorite products and their link below!
1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall?
I seem to have the most luck with L’Oreal. I am beyond obsessed with their eyeshadows and mascaras. Their foundations and concealers always seem to work out great with my skin tone! I’d say this is the brand that I pick up the most often.
2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?
My favorite face product would have to be Covergirl 3-in-1 Foundation. It’s a HG product for me. It’s budget friendly, covers my imperfections perfectly and it lasts on my skin.
My favorite cheek product would probably be the e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder. That duo just gives the perfect amount of bronzer to give me some color and the blush is gorgeous on my complexion. Did I mention it’s only $3.00??? It’s pretty similar to certain NARS product that most people rave about….
It’s really hard to pick a favorite lip product, but if I had to pick one I’d have to go with the Maybelline Baby Lips. They are THE best lip products to have on hand. They are cheap, have a great color selection and they are super moisturizing for your lips. I love them!
3. Least favorite product?
Almay Softies Eyeshadow was something I picked up and it was just the absolute worst eyeshadow I have ever used. There was no pigment to it at all!! They were really bad. I could also add the e.l.f. lashes to this list. I used their fake lashes once and they were a total hot mess.
4. What is the best makeup bargain?
This has probably been answered a thousand times, but if a product works, I gotta choose it! The wet ‘n wild eyeshadow palettes are some of the BEST drugstore eyeshadows (or any eyeshadow) that I’ve EVER used. They are super pigmented, apply great and they last! I have every single one that they make and I’m a huge fan of these. You can NOT go wrong with these palettes. I will say that some of the newer ones (I can’t remember the name but the rainbow colored one) didn’t seem as “creamy” as some of the older palettes. It was still great though!
5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?
I’ll answer this two ways. I love Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore. It’s a product line that is sold exclusively at Wal Mart and I have loved every single product I have tried from that line. I think it gets overlooked because to be honest, a lot of people hate going to Wal Mart, ha! I’ve tried their foundation, concealer, powder, eyeshadows, blushes, lip products and mascaras and every single time I’m super impressed. It’s a great product line at a really good price point and I don’t think it gets the attention in the beauty world that it should.
Now if I had to ONLY choose one product (again, so hard!!) I’d pick Boots Perfectly Bronzed Pearls. It’s a product line from the UK and I’m obsessed. This gives me the perfect amount of bronzed glow to my skin. It’s a lot cheaper than a certain Guerlain product that is pretty popular.
6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
I’m going to have to go with Physican Formula BUT I also have a solution to their high prices, so you can avoid paying full price! Their products can get way up their. Yes, they are cheaper than most high-end products, but if I’m going to pick up a drugstore item, chances are I need it to be a bit lower priced than what I could get at Sephora. Their products can be over $15.00 and I always find myself thinking that it’s a bit high. However….most stores usually have their products on sale for BOGO or at least BOGO half off. I really like several of their products, so If I can find a good sale, I can normally justify their prices. Would I pay full price for their products? No way. Do they have great products? Yes! Probably some of my favorite “complexion” products.
7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!
I’m actually not going to get into dupes. There are THOUSANDS of dupes out there. Just don’t be intimidated to shop the drugstore beauty section. There are probably dupes for most high end products out there. Example? I love the NARS duo that has the Contour/Bronzer and Blush, but it costs some serious money. e.l.f. has a very, very similar product for under $5.00 and I love it! You just have to spend some time and more than likely, you’ll find a dupe! A dupe that I see all of the time? Dupes for Urban Decay Naked Palettes!
8. Drugstore product that isn’t worth the hype?
I’ve never been a big fan of Neutrogena. I know a lot of people who really like it, but I have never had great results.
So there you have it! Some of my favorite and not so favorite drugstore makeup products! I realized, while doing this post, just how much drugstore makeup I really do enjoy using. If you don’t shop your beauty section at the drugstores- DO IT! You will end up saving yourself some cash and you might just find a new favorite! Are there any drugstore favorites that you really enjoy using? Or how about some that you’ve tried that have been horrible? I’d love to know!!

Have you had the chance to check out NYX yet? There stuff is ALWAYS on sale at Ulta and it’s SO cheap and awesome – I just got a lipstick that is about the same quality as one of my Dior one’s.

I LOVE NYX! I’m actually shocked that I didn’t mention any of their products! I love their lip butters and I use their Milk Jumbo Pencil all of the time!!

Great tag. I don’t own any high end makeup. I am just not into it that much to spend a lot of money on it, but there are some high end products I would love to try.

Love the banner! I’ve never tried much from L’Oreal, but I’m right there with you on the Almay eyeshadows. What a bummer. =/ Physicians Formula is definitely overpriced, but they have such great sales! I’ve gotten their concealers for $3 before!
