If you had to either give up ALL makeup for two months or give up your skincare routine for a week and just simply wash your face with soap and water.. which would you pick?
In all honestly this question totally left me going ????? for quite a while. I love makeup, but I also truly value and appreciate a good skincare routine. Could I do without makeup for two months to use my skincare? Or would I rather keep my makeup and wash my skin with soap and water for just a week?!? My conclusion? I’d go without makeup for two months. I know that sounds crazy to some, but I can’t do without a good skincare routine. It’s so important to have a good face before you even put on makeup. I can’t do the just soap and water routine. My face would start going nuts after about two days. So I stick with my answer. I’d choose to be makeup free to for two months. What would you choose?

I would have to go with using soap and water. Sorry, but the makeup has to stay! ha As long as I could pick the soap, I would be ok. It would have to be moisturizing, but there are many available and I’m sure I could find something that would work for me. You know, I don’t think I ever go a day without some kind of makeup on anymore. Good question! Curious to see how others answer.

I totally agree with Theresa.

Sorry, I’m with Theresa and Harri 🙂 But I like your conviction!

Nope nope nope. Thank goodness someone agrees with me! I guess we’re in the minority love. I’ll just say, if you have a good enough skincare routine makeup is often optional, and I’m all about options.

I’m right there with you, Cleo! I love having makeup optional days!
Dawn Levy says
Me, too! At least one day each weekend I find myself makeup free.

I’m totally with you Christine! My skin would be a mess without my Paula’s Choice! I need my BHA and my moisturizer… plus my Acure oil now… no amount of makeup can cover up bad skin.
Christine says
If you take good care of your skin, you don’t need a lot of makeup! I’ve found that when using a good skincare routine, I don’t need to freak out if I walk out of my house without makeup. My skin looks great without it! So I’d totally give up makeup hands down to use my skincare routine!
Theresa says
I don’t freak out without my makeup on, but I personally, am more comfortable with a little color & product on my face. Mine isn’t so much about “bad skin”, but aging skin. At a younger age, I would have gone without makeup without a thought! It’s just a comfort thing for me now. Maybe, if in the past I would have had the knowledge and products to help keep me skin more “tight”, I might feel differently. It is a personal thing, and we all have different reasons for how we will answer this question! I’m glad there are so many different products available and the knowledge that keeping your skin in good condition at a younger age will help you age “more graciously”!

I love optional makeup days but I can’t stick to a skincare routine which sucks!! I’m trying to get in the habit of doing it more often!

I wish I could pick skincare! If I didn’t sell makeup for a living, I probably would have.. but my choice was pretty much made for me. Why did I think this question was a good idea? It was HARD! But maybe we need more questions like this? Sometimes it’s good to have to really weigh pros and cons. 🙂

The base is way more important…I’m right there with you. Though I think I’d have makeup withdraws for the whole two months. lol
