I’m back with another Monday Chit-Chat! I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was very low-key, but very hot and it’s supposed to be even hotter this week. Needless to say I’ll be indoors as much as possible this week. Keep hydrated and stay cool my friends!
- We finally finished watching The Witcher’s latest season. We’re behind on shows. It was ok. I’m still pissed about Henry Cavill leaving the show after this season.
- Saw the latest Indiana Jones movie and my husband loved it! It’s not my thing, but I didn’t think it was that bad actually.
- Don’t forget to read my July reading roundup!
- I’m still addicted to this popcorn. It’s so good and it’s healthy!
- We’re headed back to 30A later this month and I am so excited. Beach and book time!
- Anyone else browsing all things fall right now?!?
- I watched Red White and Royal Blue and I enjoyed it BUT I still think the book was better and I’m not sure why it got the rating that it did. It wasn’t even that graphic?!?!
Beauty Things…
BYOMA Brightening Toner I picked this up at Target because I was in need of a new toner and so far, I love it! This is not for anyone with sensitive skin, but so far my skin is doing great. I’ve noticed that it exfoliates nicely and my skin feels smooth after I use it. I DON’T like the packaging. The opening of the product is so big that the liquid comes out too quickly. Other than that, I love it. Will report back the longer I use it.
CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser reminds me so much of my Youth To The People Superfoods Cleanser that I love and it’s half the price. It’s not exactly the same, BUT the texture is so similar. It removes makeup nicely and it leaves my skin feeling so soft.

Shark Heart by Emily Habeck is a book I keep seeing everywhere online and honestly, the synopsis also has me really curious about this story!
For Lewis and Wren, their first year of marriage is also their last. A few weeks after their wedding, Lewis receives a rare diagnosis. He will retain most of his consciousness, memories, and intellect, but his physical body will gradually turn into a great white shark. As Lewis develops the features and impulses of one of the most predatory creatures in the ocean, his complicated artist’s heart struggles to make peace with his unfulfilled dreams.
At first, Wren internally resists her husband’s fate. Is there a way for them to be together after Lewis changes? Then, a glimpse of Lewis’s developing carnivorous nature activates long-repressed memories for Wren, whose story vacillates between her childhood living on a houseboat in Oklahoma, her time with a college ex-girlfriend, and her unusual friendship with a woman pregnant with twin birds. Woven throughout this bold novel is the story of Wren’s mother, Angela, who becomes pregnant with Wren at fifteen in an abusive relationship amidst her parents’ crumbling marriage. In the present, all of Wren’s grief eventually collides, and she is forced to make an impossible choice.
A sweeping love story that is at once lyrical and funny, airy and visceral, Shark Heart is an unforgettable, gorgeous novel about life’s perennial questions, the fragility of memories, finding joy amidst grief, and creating a meaningful life. This daring debut marks the arrival of a wildly talented new writer abounding with originality, humor, and heart.
