I always think it’s fun to go back and look at the products that I really loved in the previous year. So today I’m going to be talking about my favorite beauty products of 2023: makeup, haircare, skincare, and nail products.
I have to give myself a pat on the back and say that I’m proud of the fact that I stopped with a lot of impulse shopping in 2023, especially when it came to beauty purchases. So, a lot of the products I did end up purchasing are products that I really needed or really, really wanted to try. I didn’t buy every new product release. I simplified my routines by quite a bit.
Here’s a throwback to my 2022 Beauty Favorites!

Makeup Favorites From 2023
My makeup for 2023 could be considered more of a natural, my skin but better approach. I wanted a glowy, healthy looking complexion. I didn’t wear a ton of eyeshadows and noticed I didn’t buy any eyeshadow palettes! I only used single colors for the most part. Brown mascara made a comeback and I always wear a brown eyeliner. I love a good pop of color on my cheeks and lips.
Here are the products that really stood out in my opinion!
Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation
I’m not sure if this foundation is being discontinued (I have a bad feeling it is) BUT this is one of my go-to foundations. Is it stupid expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. It leaves my skin looking GORGEOUS and more of a my skin but better type of look.
I’m on the hunt for a good dupe because this foundation is my go-to. Will report back.
Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder
I’ve been using this setting powder for years and every single time I try to use something different, I normally end up going right back to the Hourglass Veil Setting Powder. It gives an almost airbrushed finish to the complexion.
I also really love the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer!
Fenty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint
I purchased this Fenty Skin Tint because I needed something that offered a decent coverage, but wouldn’t be super heavy for summertime. I went to Sephora one day and tested all of the skin tints and tinted moisturizers. This was the very obvious winner.
I’d say this skin tint has more of a light to medium coverage. It lasted during humidity and god awful 100+ degree days. I like that I can apply this skin tint with either a brush or even just using my fingers to apply it. I use shade 6 for summer.
Saie Glowy Super Gel Dewy Multipurpose Illuminator
This is a water-based illuminator and I used the heck out of this product in 2023. I like to use it as a base under my makeup, as well as a highlighter on my complexion. It’s lightweight and offers such a gorgeous glow for the complexion. You can also use this on the body as well! It’s stunning!
Charlotte Tilbury
I absolutly love Charlotte Tilbury products and I am so pumped that they are going to be sold at Ulta! HELLO REWARD POINTS! I just find that their products work great for my complexion.
- Hollywood Flawless Filter Such a gorgeous glow. I use this as a primer (a base) for my makeup, as well as a highlighter. It’s stunning. I use shade 3.
- Pillow Talk Lipstick and Pencil forever . I will always use this color. It’s my put it on and go shade.
- Hollywood Blush and Glow Palette is the perfect pop of pink and a beautiful highlight!
- Filmstar Bronze and Glow Palette seems to be the only bronzer I really use. I also love this highlighter. It goes on so smooth and is the perfect color combo for my complexion.
Skincare Favorites From 2023
I just love talking about skincare products. I feel like 2023 was the year that I really got my skin to settle down. I loaded it with hydration. I pampered it with essences, barrier creams and took a break on harsh exfoliants. Here are the products that I really enjoyed.
Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisture Cream
If you’ve damaged your skin barrier (itchy, red, sensitive) then this is an excellent moisturizing cream. I tend to break out this cream when my skin is reacting to a product or I’ve over exfoliated. It really hydrates and protects my skin barrier and I feel like it leaves my skin plumper and more hydrated.
Dr Jart+ Cicapair Product Line
If you have redness issues, this is the product line for you. I have used so many products from the Cicapair product line for years now and I still use them to this day. I really do think that it helps out a lot!
Skinfix Barrier+ Tripe Lipid Peptide Face Cream
I’ve been using Skinfix products for quite some time now. They’re an amazing brand for so many skincare/body issues. I really loved the Skinfix Barrier+Triple Lipid Peptide Face Cream. It’s thick and loaded with so many good ingredients for skin that needs some help.
I also used the gel version as well. This is a better option if you don’t want something as thick.
*Peach and Lily Dew Wild Dew Treatment Essence
I was gifted this product from Peach and Lily and have since purchased it several times on my own. I love to load my skin with this product because it hydrates and plumps. I apply a couple drops to my hands and press the essence into my skin. I use this AM/PM.
Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Lotus Extract are just a few of the ingredients of this incredible essence!
e.l.f. Holy Hydration! Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm
I’ve went through so many of these cleansing balms this year and I keep repurchasing. This $11.00 makeup cleansing balm does such a good job that I don’t feel the need to spend more on higher priced products. It removes my makeup and it doesn’t irritate my skin.
Vanicream Daily Moisturizer
This moisturizer is under $20.00 and it’s the one that I keep turning to. I also gifted this to numerous people for Christmas. It’s that good. It’s lightweight. It doesn’t have any dyes or fragrances. It has ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Don’t NOT try this one because of the price. It’s so, so good. Also AMAZING for sensitive skin types. (Read my review!)
*Charlotte Tilbury Magic Water Cream
I was gifted this product to experience and it honestly really impressed me. This has been my go-to daytime moisturizer sinceI ran out of my Vanicream. They’re honestly slightly similar products to me, but obviously this has a much higher price tag.
The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Water Cream is a fragrance-free, lightweight gel water cream. It hydrates, but doesn’t feel super heavy on the skin. I also like that it doesn’t leave my complexion looking greasy. I apply this in the AM and feel like it provides a great base for my makeup.
I’m not done with my product just yet, but I like it enough I think I’d honestly repurchase it!
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Well what can I say? I really just love the formula of this and it reminds me of summers on the beach. I love this fragrance the most, BUT I also really love the Beija Flor scent as well. The product line is all about hydrating the skin and the Bum Bum Cream is just so, so good. Worth every penny.
Select Sol de Janeiro products are being sold at Ulta now!
Haircare Favorites From 2023
I’m still having a love affair with my blonde hair. So, with that being said, it’s pretty obvious that I’m bleaching my hair about every 6 weeks. My goals are to keep my hair healthy and protected. Here are the products that I really trust!
Also, I have an incredibly sensitive scalp. I have to really work on keeping my dry scalp under control.
Dae Products
I purchase the liter sizes in the shampoo and conditioner. It’s my absolute favorite shampoo and conditioner and I’ve used it since the brand launched. It smells so good and I love that it doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it overly greasy. Trust me on the scent! So good.
- Signature Shampoo
- Signature Conditioner
- Cactus Fruit 3-in-1 Styling Cream (This sells out constantly! It is so, so good!)
Briogeo Scalp Revival Products
Since I have a dry scalp, I will use these products about once a week, unless my scalp is having a flare-up, then I’ll use it at least twice. This combo has really, really improved the quality of my scalp. *These products worked better than even the prescription shampoo I tried!
- Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Scrub Shampoo
- Scalp Revival MegaStrength+ Dandruff Relief Shampoo Charcoal + AHA/BHA
Ouai Detox Shampoo
I’ve used this Detox shampoo for years and it’s the only one I use to this day. It helps really give my scalp a good deep cleanse, especially if I’ve used a lot of dry shampoo. I use this once a week or once every other week. In the summer I tend to use this more often.
I love that it doesn’t leave my hair super dry, but really does a great job of cleansing my scalp of excess product build up.
Living Proof PhD Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo
THE Dry Shampoo in my opinion. If you have oily roots, this is what you need. I don’t use this all of the time BUT I do pull this bad boy out to help keep my oily roots under control if they’re acting up. This is legit the best dry shampoo I have ever used. I normally stock up when it’s on sale as it’s $$$. Totally worth it though!
Nail Favorites
I really cut back on going to the nail salon in 2023. I was spending so much money every four weeks and I just decided that it was something I could cut back on. So I started really looking into nail products that gave me the results I wanted. Can I do fancy nail art? HA NO, but I can give myself a decent manicure and I’m pretty impressed with the longevity of the products.
Dazzle Dry
This nail system was something that I first heard about on Instagram and after some research, I decided to give it a try. It’s fantastic. I really do think that you need to use the products as a system to get the best results. This formula really gives you a long-lasting gel-like manicure. I am constantly wow’d by the results. It’s also very fast drying.
My one tip is to make sure you use the Transform Ridge Filler. It is what is key to giving you a gel-like manicure. it really builds up the nail bed and I absolutely love this product.
The entire product line is very, very impressive. It’s also available on Amazon if you need to order in a pinch!
Manicurist
I saw Maddy on IG share this product line and I again, was curious. I ordered a system after several uses I can safely say that I really enjoy this nail system as well. It’s a vegan, plant-based system and the colors and products available are fantastic. I believe the brand is based in Paris, which makes sense: it’s very chic. It’s also non-toxic and free of a lot of ingredients that a lot of people have sensitivities to.
I ordered their Starter Kit and added several extra polishes as well. Overall, I find the process of applying very easy and the removal was fantastic. I think the polishes are pretty long-lasting, even if I’m using my hands a lot (like I was at Christmas: wrapping, organizing, cooking)
I plan on ordering some of their nail prep tools soon and I will share a detailed overview of the products on Simply Stine!
