This past weekend was probably the first time, to me anyway, that really felt like Spring outside. Why? Sunshine and pollen! On Saturday, the temperatures were in the high 70’s and I know the pollen levels were crazy high because I’m pretty sure I sneezed and dealt with watery eyes all day long. Hello, Spring.
Springtime In The City
Since Saturday was so beautiful, I had some errands to run and I figured if it was that nice outside, I might as well make a day of it and really enjoy the weather. I drove into the city and made a stop at Ponce City Market. You’ve heard me talk about Ponce before and it’s the perfect place to enjoy a gorgeous day. You’ve got shopping, food and just the atmosphere is incredible.
I made a pit stop into J.Crew and you guys, their Spring collection is stunning! I ordered a few new items and returned a pair of pants that I had high hopes for, but sadly, looked like I was wearing a parachute. #Truth I’m so excited to be able to pull out my skirts and dresses and wear pastels and bright colors again. I had to really keep myself in check because there were so many things I could have added to my closet. Specifically, the most beautiful cashmere hoodie I’ve ever seen. WANT IT!!!!
The Parrot’s Perch by Karen Keilt
I’m partnering with BookSparks for their #SwipeRightOnReading campaign for Spring. The first book that I was sent is The Parrot’s Perch: A Memoir. The description hooked me and I can’t wait to dive in! I hope you’ll read along!
“The Parrot’s Perch opens in 2013, when Karen Kelly, age sixty, receives and an invitation to testify at the Brazilian National Truth Commission at the UN in New York. The email sparks memories of her “previous life”, the one that she had safely bottled up for more than thirty-seven years. Hopeful of raising awareness about ongoing human rights violations in Brazil, she wants to testify, but she anguished over reliving the horrific events of her youth.
Karen tells the story of her life in Brazil-from her exclusive, upper-class lifestyle and dreams of Olympic medals to her turmoil-filled youth. Full of hints of a dark oligarchy in Brazil, corruption, crime and military influence. The Parrot’s Perch is a shocking true tale of suffering, struggle, and survival.”
I read a couple of descriptions of this book and even read that it is going to be a major motion picture?!? I couldn’t find any more information on that, BUT what I read about this book seemed really interesting. This probably wouldn’t be a book I’d pick out myself, but that’s what’s fun about a #BlindDateWithABook and why I love participating in these campaigns!
Things I Didn’t Accomplish Over The Weekend
While I can brag all day long about the things I DID accomplish over the weekend, there is a pile of stuff that I didn’t even get to. #OhWell I had a great weekend and sort of took it easy. Honestly, those are much needed every now and then.
I didn’t go to the grocery store yet for some odds and ends I need. I’m trying to be better about “shopping” from my Pantry as I need to clean that baby out! Anyone else find their pantry can be overwhelming once in a while?!? I’m also hoping we utilize the grill this week. So that means fewer dishes! #win
I also didn’t do a single bit of laundry or clean at all. While I like to be ahead of the game, I didn’t want to do it so I didn’t. I figure I’ll set aside some time today to get caught up. I chose to enjoy my weekend instead!
My point is, there is always something we’ll probably be behind
Coming Soon: Spring Beauty Looks and Trends
I have a ton of content all around Spring beauty looks and trends coming your way! If you’re anything like me, around this time of year you find yourself changing up your beauty routine a bit. As the temperatures are warming up, I’m needing a lighter moisturizer, a good mattifying routine, and way more SPF as I’m outside more in the sunshine. Plus, I also change things up with my hair as I’ll be fighting frizziness a lot more. So stay tuned for the posts coming soon!
Also coming this week, my March Beauty and Book favorites! I haven’t done a favorites post in a while and honestly, I kinda miss them. I’ll be sharing what products impressed me the most as well as talking about all of the books I read last month. Hint, I read three great books!
Have a great week and I hope you enjoy the sunshine!
